Waymon S. Todd, Jr., 93, passed away January 2, 2022, at Hospice of Cincinnati in Blue Ash.
Waymon was born September 17, 1928, in Detroit, MI, son of the late Waymon S. Todd, Sr. and Katherine LaVaughn Brownlow Todd.
He was raised in Aliquippa, PA, but has been a resident of East Palestine since 1955. Waymon attended Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship and also proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the East Palestine First Church of Christ where he had previously served as a Deacon. He was employed at Babcock and Wilcox Steel for over 25 years, then worked for the East Palestine Water Department for five years prior to his retirement. Waymon was a volunteer firefighter for East Palestine in the 50's and 60's and was a past member of the East Palestine Masonic Lodge.
Waymon was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Dodds Todd in 2012, a son, Derek Todd in 2020; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edwin Todd and Paul (Beverly) Todd; sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Frank) Whisner and a sister-in-law, Jean Todd and a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy (Lucy) Dodds.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Todd Kays of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law, Cheri Todd of Stasburg, CO; three grandchildren, Alexander (Erica) Kays and Victoria Kays both of Cincinnati and Adam (Elisha) Todd of Denver; brother, David Todd of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Evelyn Todd of Indiana, PA, as well as three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with Cindy Figley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
Masks are encouraged due to the increased cases of COVID.
