East Palestine-

Vera L. "Betts" Lewis, 90, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away August 4, 2022 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Betts was born March 23, 1932 in Negley, OH, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Green Kiehl.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ in East Palestine and was an auxiliary member of VFW post # 4579 in East Palestine. Betts worked as a secretary for various local offices until her retirement in 1982. She loved to bake, and was known for her pies, cookies and wedding cakes. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Betts is survived by two sons, Roger (Denise) Lewis and Gary (Karen) Lewis; a daughter, Mary (Bob) Boyles; three brothers, Richard, Melvin and William Kiehl; a sister, Clara "Boots" Guessman; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lewis in 1990; a daughter, Sally Lewis; grandson, Michael Lewis; two brothers, Marion, Wayne and James Kiehl as well as two sisters, Donelda and Jeannetta Boyles.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Robert Helbeck officiating. A private burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
