Thomas E. Schwerin, 71, a longtime resident of the area, passed away July 19, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Youngstown following a lenghty illness.

He was born May 27, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN, son of the late Nute Sanbern and Dr. William F Schwerin, Jr. and Norma J. Whited Schwerin.

Thomas was a veteran of the US Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS John Paul Jones as an Electronic Counter Measures 2nd Class, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was employed with Sentle Trucking for many years as a truck driver and later promoted to Terminal Manager prior to his retirement in 1986. When not working, he enjoyed photography, gunsmithing and reloading, flyfishing and model railroads.

Thomas as is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Juanine Crawford; son, Tom, Jr. (Pam Brown) Schwerin; daughter, Amy (Eric) Preisendefer of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Thomas III, C.J., Caitlin, Eric, Jr. and Margaret; five great grandchidlren; two brothers, Michael (Del) Schwerin, William Schwerin, III.; three sisters, Alma Sanbern, Norma Jean Magness and Rose Marie Noll.

Following Thomas' wishes, all services will be private for the family only.
