Stanley "Sam" Straight, 80, passed away December 4, 2024, at his home with family by his side.

Sam was born April 10, 1944, in Cuba, NY, son of the late Morris and Ruby Skinner Straight.

He attended the Cannelton Baptist Church in Darlington. Sam retired in 2004 from Pipefitters Local # 798, where he worked as a welder and pipefitter for 58 years.

He enjoyed operating his sawmill until his eyesight would no longer allow it and he also loved taking care of eight acres on his John Deere tractor.

Sam is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sherry DiMichele Straight whom he married in 1966. Also surviving his is two sons, Craig (Lisa) Straight of Brazil, IN and Jason Straight of Paris, IL; brother-in-law, Stephen Irwing as well as his many friends, most especially his neighbors, Kelly, Stephen, Brecken and Ava Leigh.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Douglas in infancy, daughter-in-law, Jolene Straight, brother, Phillip Straight and three sisters, Nancy Moulton, Shirley Newswanger and Patricia Quigley.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cannelton Baptist Church at a later date.
