Samuel R. Wood, 84, of East Palestine, passed away at his residence as a result of kidney failure at 5:08 a.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018 with his beloved wife at his side.

Sam was born April 10, 1934 in Beaver Falls, PA, a son of the late Jacob Norman and Elizabeth (Grant) Wood. He had lived in East Palestine for the past twenty-seven years, coming from Darlington, PA.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War.  For fifteen years, Sam drove truck for Chrome Deposit of Weirton, WV, prior to that time he drove a tanker truck for the former Industrial Waste of Fallston, PA.

Sam was an avid biker who enjoyed his Harley's.

Sam is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Nancy (Begley) Wood; two sons, Samuel (Victoria ) Wood and Jay (Kim) Wood; a daughter, Jackie Kay Wood; a brother, Jack Wood; and four sisters, Norma Paxton, Geraldine Thonen, Mary Alice Bernstein, and Donna Laughlin; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews; along with his faithful furbaby companions, Gizzy, Marshmellow, Kuuper, and ShiShi.

He was preceded in death by four daughters, twins Raye and Faye Wood, Kathy Sue Wood, and Billie Jo Lynn Wood, as well as a brother, Thomas Wood.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Community Hospice and Abbey, Jenn, and Dr. Roy at the Dialysis Clinic in Salem.

No services are being observed at this time.  Donations may be made to the family to help offset medical expenses.

Arrangements are being handled by the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home.
