Samuel R. Hostetter, 70, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away June 24, 2024, at Salem North Nursing Home where he briefly resided.

Sam was born July 28, 1953, in Salem, OH, son of the late Ralph and Genevieve McGath Hostetter.

He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and a retired welder and fitter. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hiking and fishing.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Marsha Hostetter, Linda Burson, Diane Fulton and a brother-in-law, Gene Corfee.

He is survived by his spouse, April Noling; two sons, Travis (Justine) Hostetter and Jason (Jannette) Kacar; two daughters, Stephanie (Josh) Taylor and Melissa (Chris) Kacar-Hunter; two brothers, Daniel and Darrell Hostetter, four sisters, Debbie Hostetter, Bonnie Hahn, Paula (Steve) Lewis and Becky Yarwood as well as six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. No other services will be observed at this time. A private burial will take place at Jackman Cemetery at a later date.
