Negley-

Ruth A. Evans, 88, passed away April 9, 2026, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown.

She was born June 19, 1937, in East Palestine, daughter of the late John and Thelma Tennis Sensanbaugher.

Ruth has been a resident of Negley since 1958, and a longtime member of the Negley United Methodist Church. She was owner/operator of the East End Market for 18 years and later worked as a cashier for Walmart. She was a longtime member of the New Waterford Eagles and the Negley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Ruth is survived by two sons, James (Kathy) Evans of Negley and Jon (Brenda) Evans of Columbiana; two daughters, Janine (Leonard Williams) Evans and Jeanette (Joe) Thompson both of Negley; a sister, Virginia Kelvington of East Palestine; grandson, Joe (Mallory) Thompson and three granddaughters, Maryn, Elyn and Collyn.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Edwin Sensenbaugher and a sister, Deloris McCormick.

A funeral service will be held 6:00 PM Monday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with Pastor Cindy Figley officiating. The family will receive friends prior to services from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.

There will be a memorial luncheon Saturday April 18, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Negley United Methodist Church. All are invited to share in the fellowship luncheon and share a memory of Ruth.

A private burial will be held at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
