East Palestine-

Ruth A. Broadbent, 86, passed away October 4, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center.

Ruth was born March 1, 1935, in New Waterford, OH, daughter of the late Elmer Garrett and Iva Tamer Lambright Garrett.

Ruth attended Centenary United Methodist Church. She worked at the Blackburn House in Poland for 24 years prior to her retirement in 1994. After retirement, Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, visiting casinos, going out to eat and taking long drives. She was known for her outgoing personality and made friends easily.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Alan (Tina) Kennedy of New Waterford, John (Michelle) Kennedy of East Palestine; three sisters, Dorothy Rankin of New Waterford, Marjorie Shafer of East Liverpool. Geraldine Sensanbaugher of East Palestine; three grandchildren, Kathy Kennedy and Nick Kennedy both of East Palestine, Michael Kennedy of Florida; four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Earl Broadbent in 2010; a son, Michael Kennedy; seven brothers, Richard, Raymond, Thomas, James, Dale, Paul and Bud Garrett as well as three sisters, Esther Jenkins, Donna Huff and Gloria Bair.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday October 8, 2021, at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
