East Palestine-

Ronald A. McKay, 63, passed away October 30, 2024, at Greenbriar Healthcare Center following a tragic racing accident and a brief battle with cancer.

Ron was born August 5, 1961, in Brookville, PA, son of the late Ray and Janet Smith McKay.

He was a longtime resident of East Palestine, and a graduate of East Palestine High School. Ron worked for the Operators Engineer Union Local # 66 for a number of years prior to retirement. He had a passion for racing, including four and six wheelers. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hanging out around bonfires with friends, who lovingly gave him the nickname "Smiley", and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Ron is survived by a son, Steven (Jennifer) McKay; a daughter, Stephanie (Thomas) Foster; a brother, Roger McKay; five grandchildren, Nolan, Jameson, Rori, Danika and Daxton as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Declan McKay; two brothers, Stanley and Randy McKay and a sister, Rhonda McKay.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM.
