New Waterford-

Ronald L. Davidson, 79, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on September 30, 2026, at home with his wife by his side.

Ron was born November 9, 1946, in Beaver Falls, PA, son of the late Howard and Ruth (Huston) Davidson.

Ron was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps. He served as a heavy equipment operator with the 7th and 9th Engineers. He proudly served from 1966 until 1970, having served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Once he completed his enlistment, he returned home and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local # 66 for 38 years before retiring. He continued to attend two USMC reunions a year every year for both the 7th and 9th Engineers he served with.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Waterford, the Columbiana American Legion, the East Palestine Eagles and Moose Lodge and the Historical Society of Columbiana County and East Fairfield Twp. He enjoyed genealogy and history.

Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loretta (Noel) Davidson; two sons, Gregory S. (Jennifer) Davidson of Bowling Green, OH and Eric D. Davidson of North Lima; six grandchildren, Andrew and Mitchell Davidson, Chandler Schultz, Evelyn and Lucas Davidson and Kolyns Donaldson as well as a great grandson, Ace Joseph Schultz.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Keith Davidson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 Pm at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 7, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Pat Smith officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Columbiana American Legion Post # 290. A private burial will follow at East Carmel Cemetery.
