Reed Duncan, 89 was born on September 12, 1928 to Arthur N. and Gertrude Forsythe Duncan in New Galilee, Pa.  He passed away on December 12, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.

He married the former Donis Barnhouse on August 12, 1950.  They have three children; Philip (JoAnn) Duncan of Manor, TX, Wendy (Rod) Kasler of Mount Pleasant, Ohio, and Mark (Heather) Duncan of East Palestine. He had six grandchildren; Carrie (Justin) Hill of Mount Pleasant, Ryan Kasler of Allenwood, Pa, Tracy (Kathryn) Duncan of Austin TX, Megan (Ryan) Maxwell of Greenford, Ohio, Sarah (Darren) Kuhn of, Pflugerville, TX. and Alex (Sara) Duncan of Mount Pleasant, Ohio. There are six great grandchildren; Kobe and Kenzie Hill, Colson, Bennett and Sawyer Maxwell and Reed Duncan with a little sister on the way.

Reed was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Gertrude Duncan, a brother James Duncan, and sisters Mabel Inman, Fae Conner, and Ruth Howard.  Surviving sisters are Helen Burke, Carol Walters, Margaret McKinney, and Melanie Hirt.

Reed was an active member of First Church of Christ, East Palestine serving as an elder, deacon and trustee. He also was a board member of the Hasten International Mission.

He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1946. Reed was a dragline operator for August Lotze Coal and Dodds Coal Companies, before starting Duncan Brothers Drilling Company with his brother James.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday December 16, 2017 at the First Church of Christ in East Palestine with Bob Helbeck officiating. A private entombment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine, as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be given to First Church of Christ, East Palestine or Hospice House/Hospice of the Valley 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland Ohio 44514.
