Patrick Michael McCarthy of Salem, Ohio passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024.

He was born on March 15, 1957, the son of Mary L. McCarthy.  Patrick was raised in Youngstown and later moved with his family to the Columbiana area in 1979.

He was a graduate of the Leonard Kirtz School and participated in the Special Olympics.  He loved his horse Red, bowling, riding his bicycle, shooting hoops, cleaning, yard work, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Most of all he cherished his family and friends. He could light up any room with his outgoing personality and million-dollar smile.  Patrick loved Jesus and was baptized in March 2014.

Patrick's mother raised him with his brother Kenneth McCarthy of California and his sister Laurie (Dave) Spencer of New Waterford.  He was uncle to Dan Kyser of Hanoverton and Dennis (Tess) Kyser of Columbiana and great uncle to Madison, Lenna, and Scarlett Kyser of Columbiana.  He leaves his uncle Patrick (Margaret) Burns of North Lima; cousins, Carrie Powers, Patti Burns, and Kristen Orr and David Spencer, Jr. Separated at birth siblings are Mike Mazur, Linda Olinik, Jeannine Santoro, Kristan Heyer and Susan Lindsley.  He had the pleasure of loving Linda (Ken) and Jeannine and their children, Scott, Mandy, Steve, Nick, Emily, and Tristan.    Patrick cherished his lifelong friendship with the Ford family of Youngstown, including Cherie and Mark Sefcik of Austintown.

Patrick was preceded in death by his mother and her companion, Gabriel Davis; grandmother, Kathryn Burns; great grandmother, Rachel Gardner and a cousin, John P. Burns.

Per the family's wishes, all services are private.

Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
