Mary L. McCarthy, 85, passed away unexpectedly May 18, 2022, at her residence.

Mary was born August 28, 1936, in Youngstown, OH, daughter of the late Frank and Kathryn Sweeney Burns.

She was owner/operator of Reds Sport Shop in Beaver Township for 44 years. She was still actively working until her final day. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, mowing the yard, and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by four daughters, Laurie (David Sr.) Spencer of New Waterford, Linda (Ken) Olinik of Greenford; Jeannine Santoro of Boardman, Susan Lindsley of Lakemore, OH; two sons, Patrick McCarthy of Salem and Kenneth McCarthy of California; brother, Patrick (Marty) Burns of North Lima; several grandchildren, including, Daniel and Dennis (Tess) Kyser, Scott, Steve, Mandy, Nicholas, Savannah, Courtney, Douglas, Emily and Tristan; great grandchildren, Madison, Lenna and Scarlet Kyser, Ayla, Peyton and Elliot; three nieces, Carrie, Patti and Kristen; many other grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family and friends are left to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her nephew, John Burns; two brothers, John F and Frank W. Burns; daughter-in-law, Janet McCarthy as well as her longtime companion, Gabriel Davis.

A private graveside service will be held at Petersburg Cemetery. No other services will be held.

Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
