Rogers, Ohio – Larry Morgan Dickey, 81, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on November 24 ^th , 1939, in Glenco, Ohio. He was raised by his mother Vivian Jean Minamyer-Dickey and Chester Clayton Dickey. His biological father, Clyde Gamble, was a casualty of World War II and never met his only son, Larry. Larry is proud that he could have a relationship with Clyde's family in adult life.

Larry is a graduate of East Palestine High School class of 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Jane Hartford Dickey, on August 21, 1957. This week would mark their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary. As he worked his way through Youngstown State University, Jane and Larry had three daughters: Sally, Mary, and Marcy.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Youngstown State University in 1964, Larry and his family moved to Lakewood, Ohio. There, he worked at Nation Wide Insurance Company, while  he attended John Marshall Law School, graduating in 1969.

After passing the Ohio State Bar Examination, Larry practiced Law with his father-in-law, Robert S. Hartford Sr in East Palestine. The Hartford and Dickey Law Firm was later joined by his brothers in law, Robert, and James Hartford. During Larry's career, he served as a local assistant prosecutor for Columbiana County and later, a municipal court judge. He also played a valuable role as the President of the Columbiana County Bar Association.

Larry's passions included importing and raising some of the original Italian Spinones. He personally bred, trained, and won many field trials with this unique and versatile breed. Larry was a participating member of many sportsman clubs including but not limited to: New Middleton Sportsman Club, Leatonia Sportsman Club, and Forest County Sportsman Club where he was active in the yearly youth program. Larry had served as president of the North American Versatility Hunting Dog Association. He was a very active member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He served as a Deacon, giving communion to those who were unable to join in person. Larry and his wife, Jane, joyfully participated in the production of the recurring Boar's Head Celebration at his church. His other passion, boxing, included being president of the Ohio State Boxing Commission which included judging professional boxing.

Larry started his passion for the outdoors when he was an boy scout. He shared his love and respect for nature in his words and deeds. He believed that all people are created equal. He passed his ideas and legacy to his heirs.

Larry will be celebrated, remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife Jane Hartford Dickey, his three daughters and two son in laws Sally Dickey Beight, Mary Dickey (Sid) Harvey and Dr. Marcy Dickey ( Mike Frase) as well as his ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and many niece nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday August 21 ^st at Dickeys Lake from one to four pm.
