J. "Kay" Vandervort Schwemm, 81, died peacefully on April 10, 2025 in East Palestine Ohio.  She is survived by her sister, Naomi Allison, Darlington PA, brother Bob Vandervort, Vista CA., four children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Originally from South Heights, PA, Kay graduated from Ambridge High School in 1961. She enjoyed singing background and traveling with local recording artist Lou Christie. Married Robert Chick in 1960, had a daughter, Tami (currently in Charlotte NC), divorced in 1963.  She later met her soulmate, Dale Schwemm, who she married in 1971 gaining three Bonus children that she adored – Ron in Pittsburgh, Laura in Broken Arrow, OK, and Doug in Mobile, AL.  Kay and Dale lived in Moon, PA, Fairfax, VA, Rochester, NY, Chicago, IL, Torrence, CA, and Charlotte, NC; always valuing time with family and friends above everything. Dale passed in 2019.  Kay will be interred with Dale at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville PA. In her sunset years she was cared for extensively by her niece, Janice Hays, Director - Prayer Mountain Ministries (formerly Fisher of Boys), Darlington, PA. Donations welcomed.
