James L. While, 84, passed away September 29, 2026, at the Rose Lane Nursing and Rehab in Massillon.

James was born February 22, 1942, in Youngstown, son of the late Joseph and Nettie (Boles) While.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army. James was a structural steel fitter for Boardman Steel for over 20 years.

James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann While, whom he married in 1963. Also surviving are four sons, James L. (Jami) While, Jr. of Boardman, Michael (Kris) Andrew of Salem, Bradley While of New Waterford, Bryan While of Girard as well as two brothers, Charlie and Joe While; sister, Nettie White; cousin, Paul Gerthung; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Lana and Tina While and nine siblings.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine, with honors accorded by the American Legion Post #31-East Palestine. A private burial to follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
