East Palestine-

James R. Scheuering, 93, passed away July 4, 2024, at his home with family by his side.

He has resided in East Palestine for the past 10 years, but previously lived in McMurry, PA for many years.

Jim was born May 14, 1931, in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late George and Evelyn Zilliox Scheuering.

Jim was a proud Korean War veteran of the US Army. He was a catholic by faith and served as usher for over 40 years. He also worked as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. Jim worked for a number of years as a truck driver, but most recently he worked as a house painter prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, most especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also made many friends "throwing back a cold one" with his neighbors at Claybrook. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara McLennan Scheuering; a son, Earl Scheuering of Greene County, PA; two daughters, Nadine DeMaio of Mars, PA and Stephanie (Michael) Dilworth of East Palestine; a sister, Rose Marie Hochendoner; six grandchildren, Ashley (Matt), Leslie (Brian), Erica (Vaughn), Natalie (Zach), Anthony (Taylore) and Cynthia (Will) as well as nine great grandchildren, Mason, Jayce, Savannah, Amelia, Layla, Theodore, Leonardo, Joseph and Caleb.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Scheuering and two brothers, George and Robert Scheuering.

A catholic memorial prayer service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with Father Chad Johnson serving as celebrant. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-11:00 AM Thursday prior to services.
