East Palestine-
James A. Griffith, 100, a longtime resident of East Palestine, passed away peacefully March 25, 2019 at his home with his family and caretaker by his side.

James was born January 21, 1919 in Canonsburg, PA, a son of the late Alfred and Ina Morrison Griffith. He was a 1937 graduate of East Palestine High School and had been a self-employed plumber.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and the East Palestine Masonic Lodge. An avid fisherman he also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family.

His wife, Mary Robson Griffith, whom he married October 10, 1942, preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Merwyn Griffith and a sister, Thelma Van Fossen.

James is survived by a son, Timothy J. Griffith of East Palestine; daughter, Gwenna (Donald) Davidson of Valley Forge, PA; two grandchildren, Jason James Griffith of Boardman, Janeen (Jeffrey) Bentz of Gibsonia, PA; and great grandchildren, Brooke and Aiden Griffith, Madison Fleming, Ellie and Austin Bentz.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Marcia Baumgardner for the care she extended to our loved one.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday March 28, 2019 at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The family will receive friends prior to the time of service from 11:00-1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Glenview Cemetery. A luncheon will take place at the conclusion of  all services at Centenary United Methodist Church.
