East Palestine -

Gene G. Gribben, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at The Truman House Community Hospice in New Philadelphia, OH.

Gene, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, was born November 27, 1931, to the late Rodney Gribben and the late Mabel (Blagg) (Lackner).

He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Danette) of Columbiana and Darrin (Hope) of Salem; two Sisters, Rae Lackner of East Palestine, and Carol DeSaulles of Boardman; seven Grandchildren Daniel (Lisa) Gribben of Darlington, PA, Michael Gribben of Columbiana, Heather Gribben of Austintown, Aaron Gribben of Columbiana, Allison (Sam) Shirey of Swannanoa, NC. Austin Gribben of New Waterford & Steven (Johnathan) of Youngstown, and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, David (July 1993) and his wife of 58 years JoAnn (Hillier) (November 2020)

Gene was employed as a class A heavy equipment assembler by the former L. W. Nash Company in East Palestine. He worked at several other businesses performing the same line of work, prior to retiring from Gormac Custom Manufacturing Co. in North Lima, OH.

Gene enjoyed photography, metal detecting and collecting music as hobbies.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the transportation corps.

In keeping with the wishes of Gene, there will be no public funeral services; interment will take place at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford, OH.
