East Palestine-

Ernest F. "Ernie" Berg, Sr., 71, a longtime resident of East Palestine, passed away December 1, 2023, at Akron City Hospital.

Ernie was born March 19, 1952, in Youngstown, son of the late Charles and Dorothy Hofmeister Berg.

He was a graduate of Struthers High School and worked as a bus driver for McCarter Transportation in Chippewa, PA. He enjoyed camping, classic cars and collecting riding tractors.

Ernie is survived by a son, Ernest (Melissa) Berg, Jr. of East Palestine; daughter, Lee (Tony) Helisek of Dover, TN; brother, Harold Berg of Struthers; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Donna Muir Berg in 2009 as well as his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Friday December 8, 2023, at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 5:00-6:00 PM. A private burial will be held at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford at a later date.
