It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Edward Francis Kiernan, who passed on August 14 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House in Boardman.  Ed - AKA "The Legend" was born and raised the youngest of seven children to Bernard and Mary (Bradley) Kiernan in rough and tumble Hell's Kitchen, New York City where he spent most of his life before relocating over the Hudson River to Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey and ultimately, East Palestine, Ohio.

Beloved husband of Virginia (Oliver). Devoted father of Edward II (Michele), Poland, Ohio and Elizabeth (Bill) Tyndall, Chevy Chase, Maryland.  Dear brother of Patrick, Bernie (Boo), Mary, Kay, Theresa and Ann.  Loving grandfather of Edward III AKA "Tripp", Oliver, Sloane, Brady and caring Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Ed was with the Bergen County (New Jersey) Sheriff's office for 35 years after serving a stint in Europe with The United States Army's Elite Intelligence Division.  He was also a member of New York City's singing sensation 'The Cliff Tones' with brothers Patrick and Bernie.  Instead of stardom and fame, all decided on careers in law enforcement in lieu of the country's first boyband.  They were truly ahead of their time!

He enjoyed family, his grandchildren, his pets and a cold beer … especially, at "Club Younghans" in Fort Lee, NJ.  He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants, New York Yankees and New York Rangers.  He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and being the life of the party.

A celebration of life will be held this Fall in New Jersey for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you go to your local watering hole and buy a stranger a beer or two - he would have wanted that.
