Dorothy B. Nixon, 80, passed away November 23, 2018 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman following a brief illness.

Dorothy was born September 13, 1938 in North Sewickley, PA, daughter of the late Everett and Martha Schwartz Cox.

She has resided in New Waterford the past 30 years, having moved from Beaver Falls, PA. Dorothy worked many jobs through her life including Horse Trainer, Truck Driver but most recently, she was a self-employed business owner, managing rental properties. When not working, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by a son, David R. (Alissa) Nixon; daughter, Julie A. Nixon; two grandchildren, Luke and Ryan Nixon as well as two great grandchildren, Luke and McKenzie. She also leaves behind, her three faithful companions, Duke, Snickers and Bella.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David Nixon in 2008, a son, Bruce A. Nixon in 2009; six brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 6:00-7:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.

Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy's name to the Humane Society of Columbiana County or the National Association of the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
