East Palestine-

Darlene K. Chapman, 69, a longtime resident of East Palestine, passed away September 27, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown.

Darlene was born May 25, 1957, in Lima, OH, daughter of the late James and Sylvia (Sherer) Schultz.

She served on the East Palestine Fire Department as an EMT for the past six years and previously on the Perry TWP in Allen County, OH. Darlene was co-owner along with her husband of Stitches ‘N Stuff Embroidery. She worked as an office manager for Bush Heating for 13 years and previously worked in medical insurance for 20 years. Darlene served as a supporter and advisor for 4H and previously served on the county horse committee. She was happiest spending time with her family, most especially cheering on her granddaughter at her softball games.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 48 years, Kent Chapman; a son, Mark (fiance’ Amanda Shepard) of East Palestine; Kristen Strosnider of Wardensville, WV; two sisters, Cynthia (Dan) Kimmet and Denise (Todd) Sheldon as well as a granddaughter, Madison Strosnider.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Glenview Cemetery.
