New Waterford-

Catherine E. Betts, 88, a longtime resident of New Waterford, went to be with the lord October 1, 2023, at St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Boardman.

Catherine was born March 18, 1935, in Broad Top City, PA, daughter of the late Ralph and Pearl Neville Putt.

Catherine had previously worked as a nurse's aide, seamstress and in an apple orchard, but she was most proud of her work as a homemaker taking care of her family. She was a member of the New Waterford United Methodist Church.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edwin Betts who she married March 20, 1954; two sons, Gordon Betts and Lonnie (Tracy) Betts; two daughters, Kim Spencer and Kay(Curt)Turney; a brother, Alan Putt; two sisters, Lola Martin and Nancy Wyles; 11 grandchildren, Travis Dunn, Ross Betts, Justin Betts, Jackie Reynolds, Terry Krepps II, Joe Frankland, Dan Frankland, Eric Frankland, Melissa Ludban, Cody Turney and Allison Turney as well as eight great grandchildren, Luke and Riley Betts, Rick Heaton, Nadaleigh Reynolds, June Frankland, Austleigh Turney, Ben and Natalie Ludban.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Putt, Sister, Jean Hall; a great grandson, Ryder Betts and a son-in-law, Milton Spencer.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday October 5, 2023 at the New Waterford United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 11:00-12:00. A burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
