East Palestine-

Betty J. Reeves, 90, passed away quietly Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Christian House in East Palestine.  Betty was born May 17, 1930 in East Palestine, a daughter to the late Wilfred and Helen (Haney) Powell.  She lived in East Palestine her entire life.  She was a 1948 graduate of East Palestine High School where she had been an active student and a Bulldog cheerleader.

Betty had worked for a number of years as an instructional aide for the East Palestine City Schools before co-owning and operating the R. P. Reeves Company and Canvas Corner along with her husband Robert.

She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling and golf, and was a member of the East Palestine Country Club.  In her later years she kept active playing cards and quilting.  Her grandchildren were a source of great pride for her, and following their achievements also occupied much of her time.

She was no stranger to sacrifice and well known for her sense of humor.  She would offer no apologies for the many stories she told, sometimes expressed in graphic and colorful detail, of a life well-lived.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert, in 2008.  She leaves behind three children, Robert Reeves of Hubbard, Patti (Rocky) Bosley, and Greg (Nancy) Reeves of East Palestine.  She also leaves eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Christian House for the compassionate care shown to her in her final years, and for creating a place where she felt at home.     They would also like to express their sincere gratitude to her friend and roommate, Kate Berresford, whose comfort and support during her time at Christian House truly enhanced the quality of her remaining years.

As per her wishes and due to continued concerns with the Covid virus, there will be no calling hours.   Friends may offer memorial tributes to either the East Palestine Social Concerns or the East Palestine Alumni and Friends Scholarship.
