East Palestine, Ohio - Ben A. Soldo, 93, of East Palestine, passed away 1:15 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Greenbriar Quality Care Nursing Home where he had been a patient.

Ben was born June 27, 1923 in East Palestine, a son of the late Rocco and Maria Dell'Aquila Soldo and had lived in East Palestine most of his life.

He was a graduate of East Palestine High School and later graduated summa cum laude from Mount Union College where he went onto earn a Masters Degree. He worked for Firestone Tire in the Caribbean for 15 years as a Foreign Trade Administrator as well as in Rome and later in Akron, Ohio prior to his retirement. He had been a lifelong member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

He is survived by a sister, Eda Ragghanti of Youngstown, a brother, Nino (Donna) Soldo of Clermont, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Soldo; sisters, Mary Davis, Rose Slavens, Natalie Wyeth, and Dena Bozick; and three nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, March 17th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Cicero serving as celebrant. Friends will be received Friday prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
