Andrew J. Proya, Sr., 92, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 2019 , at his home.

Andrew was born May 22, 1926 in Koppel, PA, a son of the late Raymond and Rose (Mangerie) Proya and a longtime resident of East Palestine. He was a ten year veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd airborne having served during WWII and the Korean War. He had been employed as a plant manager for Insul Company from 1965 thru 1992.

He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church as well as the American Legion Post 31 and the V.F.W. Post 4579 all of East Palestine.

His wife Doris Jean (McCormick) Proya, preceded him in death on January 15, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dora Macioce.

Andrew was father to five children: Andrew (Midge) Proya, Jr. of New Galilee, PA, Rev. Jeffrey (Kathy) Proya of Toronto, Grace (David) Fristik of East Palestine, Michelle (Bill) George of Negley and Jon Proya of East Palestine; brother of Thomas (Betty) Proya of New Brighton,PA, Vincent Proya of Beaver Falls; cherished grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23rd at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Jeffrey Proya officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
